Cody Clapp – Guide/Outfitter

A native of Idaho, Cody has made his mark as a professional guide, leading fishing, hunting, and horse trips throughout the American West, including Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A professional guide since 1994, Cody landed in the Capitol Reef region after he spotted the endless adventure opportunities in the area. He guides hundreds of adventurers through the mountains and canyons of the area every season using his string of ready-to-ride horses. Notorious for his stories, Cody has been known to keep his audiences enchanted for hours with tales of his adventures and mishaps.

Liv Shaughnessy - Office Maven and All-Around Great Help

Liv has been enjoying the beautiful scenery of Torrey since she was a kid. She has a cabin a few miles up highway 12 and has been coming down to help out at Backcountry Outfitters for a few years now.  She owns one of the horses in the herd named Deuce .

Dan Carter – “Big Country” Guide/ Iditarod Veteran

Dan likes running rivers, mushing dogs, scouting & planning & cooking for multi-day trips, and having fun. The experiences he’s had lend him unflappable organizational skills and a great enthusiasm for the outdoors.  He’s led a life that includes numerous outdoor adventures, and he continues to find and lead them with us in southern Utah. We’re lucky to have him!

Scott Sojourner- Guide, 4×4 Tours, Hiking, Photography

An established local resident, Scott has been an avid outdoorsman and amateur naturalist and geologist since he was old enough to walk. Scott has been exploring the mountains, canyons, and deserts of the Southwest for over 25 years.  He enthusiastically shares his extensive knowledge of the unique local flora, fauna, geology, and history with those fortunate enough to be enjoying one his many popular tours in this amazing area.
